Hallo, Hallo dear hearts!

I was planning a completely different post today to share with you on the ‘Falling for You’ blog tour – wherein, I am having the pleasurable JOY of *discovering!* a #newtomeauthor of #INSPYRomance! Per my 5th Blogoversary post this year, you might already be properly aware of my admiration, love & passionate addiction to reading INSPY Fiction – as well as how I have noticed my heart is wandering back through the Contemporary door of INSPY moreso than mainstream (of late) due to what has become inclusively included across the markets.

I only received my copy of ‘Falling for You’ earlier this week, thinking I had enough time I could put aside to read both this lovely novel & the stories which precede it – as I hadn’t realised at the time I joined the blog tour, this is a series in-progress! Let me share with you some wonderfully wicked news before I explain why I am spotlighting a series I am so very keen to be reading! One of the things I appreciate about publishers today, is the ability to understand some of us are still traditional readers – meaning, when they seek to publish novellas or shorts interconnected to series, the beauty for us who read traditionally in either print or audiobook (or a combination therein, like I do) it’s a sweet joyful moment of happiness finding they have published these lovely additional stories into a format we can enjoy ourselves! I can’t read digitally due to chronic migraines – something my readers are aware of as whenever they start to cluster together, I am unable to be online as frequently as usual – or rather, why I was haphazardly online this Spring!

Imagine my joyfulness then seeing “Then Came You” – the *prequel!* novella for the Bradford Sisters Romance series was available on Audible! I’ve been sitting on a secret for awhile now, as I haven’t had the proper chance to make announcements on my blog – several posts for ‘The Sunday Post’ &/or ‘Ten Bookish Not Bookish Thoughts’ are in various stages of being ‘edited’ – therefore, I never had the pleasure of revealling for my 5th Blogoversary my Mum & Dad wanted to ensure I could continue listening to audiobooks by gifting me a membership to Audible! It is through this lovely gesture I was able to pick up a copy of the novella for this series! Isn’t that wicked awesome!? I can’t even believe it – generally I’m not in a position to ‘collect & gather’ novellas attached to series – with audiobooks being my jam at the moment as they help me ease back into reading after my debilitating migraines – this is a special treat of JOY!

I had it all planned out you see – I was able to acquire the audiobook novella, my local library (bless them!) had a copy of “True to You” (as apparently there are other readers of Ms Wade in my region who *love!* her stories – I can continue to read her books after the tour this Summer!) in print and I had quickly seen to blocking out time to curl into this series in a personal readathon where I could move in & out of the stories back to back throughout Wednesday – a day *ahead!* of my tour stop!

Of course, life doesn’t always go to plan – my parents needed me during the day on Wednesday and by the evening hours, I noticed I was not feeling very well. I admit, I have horrid Spring allergies to pollen – they truly wrecked my Spring 2017 whereas this year they were blessedly delayed until May, due to a longer ‘Winter’ – however, the humidity also makes me quite ill if the temperatures go north towards 100 degrees and if you combine this with the fact they are currently treating our water in the city – there was enough of a potboiler effect to render me dearly ill. So much so, I was up and down most of the night and early morning just struggling to both breathe and shift through the worst of bout of illness I was enduring. I even overslept which is why this Spotlight for the series is running a smidge late! (frowns) (sad eyes)

Looking forward – I’m going to be reading this series as we move into the weekend – curling into the audiobook and the novels with a joyful heart of joyful reprieve as the main reason I wanted to become a part of this lovely blog tour was to find a #newtomeauthor of INSPY Fiction – someone who writes the kinds of stories which I find personally uplifting to be reading whilst celebrating the realistic ups / downs of everyday living. I truly LOVE these kinds of stories, as I have my own curated reading focus on INSPY Lit if you visit my 70 Authors Challenge.

Whilst this isn’t the post I planned to share as I wanted to dig into the heart of the series – ruminating about the characters & the writing styling of Ms Wade – please forgive me dear hearts for spotlighting this series today until my eyes stop burning & itching and my general overall wellness resumes. I do look forward to sharing snippets of my progress on Twitter – look for those tweets upcoming ahead of the weekend – whilst *fingers crossed!* I am hoping I can reveal my thoughts on this series by the Grand Finale of the blog tour which is *Saturday!*, the 12th – a day ahead of Mother’s Day! Wouldn’t that be especially keen & lovely!?

Until then, I spied a lovely Q&A with Ms Wade I can share with you today ahead of my forthcoming review – as I truly am blessed & grateful to be on her blog tour – I simply had to postpone my entrance into her stories – these questions point a picture of how she approaches her writing, how passionate she is about the characters she is creating & how happy she is to share her writerly life with her readers! What a wonderful capstone to conclude a ‘Spotlight’ ahead of a reading adventure with a #newtomeauthor!

Blog Book Tour | “Beauty and Her Boss” (Book One: Once Upon A Fairy Tale) by Jennifer Faye a selection of #Harlequin Romance

Book Review badge created by Jorie in Canva using Unsplash.com photography (Creative Commons Zero).

Acquired Book By: I started hosting with Prism Book Tours at the end of [2017], having noticed the badge on Tressa’s blog (Wishful Endings) whilst I was visiting as we would partake in the same blog tours and/or book blogosphere memes. I had to put the memes on hold for several months (until I started to resume them (with Top Ten Tuesday) in January 2018). When I enquried about hosting for Prism, I found I liked the niche of authors and stories they were featuring regularly. I am unsure how many books I’ll review for them as most are offered digitally rather than in print but this happily marks one of the blog tours where I could receive a print book for review purposes. Oft-times you’ll find Prism Book Tours alighting on my blog through the series of guest features and spotlights with notes I’ll be hosting on behalf of their authors.

I received a complimentary copy of “Beauty and Her Boss” direct from the author Jennifer Faye in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive compensation for my opinions or thoughts shared herein.

Why I wanted to read this story:

To be honest – I was hoping this was a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast – as I have been in love with this particular fairy tale for a long time! I still remember going to see the famed animated version starring Angela Lansbury as Mrs Potts as a young girl! The recently adapted live-action with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens not only captured my heart but it truly captured my emotions! I had the hardest time ‘letting go’ of the Beast – to where, I understood why Emma’s character instinctively mentioned she’d prefer if he had a ‘beard’ now that he was transformed back to being a human!

Over the years of being a book blogger, one of the joys has been seeking out aspects of literary adaptation which has held a special interest to me as a reader. Re-tellings, re-envisionings and sequels based upon original canons of work has been a bit of a niche of mine to seek out. Which is why, this isn’t my first re-telling of Beauty and the Beast – as I truly loved Becoming Beauty by Sarah E. Boucher  wherein I shared this takeaway:

Fun Stuff for Your Blog via pureimaginationblog.com

Boucher does a brilliant job of counter-balancing the fairy-tale narrative we all know as Beauty & the Beast with a new curtain of insight into how Bella fits within the story arc of where the Beast’s presence is going to lead her towards the best discovery of all: seeing herself for the first time without a cloud of untruth glossing over her infractions and faults of character. The ruminative lingering thoughts and the flashbacks of another life having lived before her, I appreciated seeing where the original tale and this one merged into one; granting a stronger impression of the Beast’s devotion and a curious itch into how Bella could befall under the bewitching dreams of a woman who had not yet let go of her beloved Beast.

I simply adore style of conception and creation of fairy-tale re-tellings by Ms. Boucher, who breathes not only new life into a tale you know by heart but she gives a warranted exploration of the depth of the characters therein. Her own imaginative heart is both full of moxie and a redefinition of the classical canon of how a fairy-tale can be seen through the eyes of someone who believes there is a bit more depth out of the superficiality of misguided souls. She transitions herself into a niche of the world of Fantasy and has fully convinced me to keep my eye on her next releases where she embodies her tagline: Bringing Twisted Fairy-Tales to Life.

-quoted from my review of Becoming Beauty

Fun Stuff for Your Blog via pureimaginationblog.com

The unique spin on this ‘beauty’ and ‘beast’ story is how the characters are put together – the beastly hero was injured in a serious car accident and his ‘beauty’ is under his employ but they share a past neither of them fully realises until the climatic moment wherein they must decide if they should stay in each others’ lives; at least, this is how the Author’s Note reads to me!

The joy of hosting for Prism these past several months has been a return to reading Harlequin authors – whilst becoming better acquainted with the imprints I hadn’t previously known. Their Romance imprint is one I hadn’t explored previously – finding a re-telling as my first ‘introduction’ to the imprint is quite stellar if you ask me! I am looking forward to seeing what else Ms Faye has in store for all of us whilst she evolves through this series!

According to the novel, this is meant to be a duet rather than a mini-series – I initially thought there were several upcoming novels – however, it is apparently more akin to a duology with a slight difference. As a duology has two linking stories which are in essence part one and part two of a continuing story-line; a duet are two stand-alone stories which are linked by theme or setting; in this case, re-tellings of Classical Fairy Tales.

I received a complimentary copy of “Forever A Father” direct from the author Lynne Marshall in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive compensation for my opinions or thoughts shared herein.

Why I wanted to read this story:

Even before I started reading the story, I appreciated what was being disclosed in the Author’s Note as I love reading all the little ‘extras’ included with stories. Harlequin puts these notes right at the beginning of the books – this way, it feels like you personally know a bit of keen insight about the characters, the setting or the thread of narrative your about to embark inside! Before I mention what warmed my heart about the note itself – I wanted to say, I love reading about families. Either the traditional kind or the unconventional – I love when people come together where love is concerned and where children also play a part in their story.

This novel is about a single Mum and her daughter, Anna whose become smitten with her boss, the doctor; in of itself, this was enough to draw my eye into wanting to read the book! I love second chance romances and new beginnings – those two themes are some of the most uplifting to be reading and this is why I love seeking them out! I also, was thankfully remembering to ‘double-check’ if this was a series in-progress or one which was just about to begin: cheers, dear hearts, Jorie finally finds a ‘first’ of a series for Harlequin! Laughs with mirth.

Now, back to the author’s note – my smile grew as I read Keela is from Ireland and the doctor is one of three brothers of whom has a family who owns one of the hotels at this seaside slice of paradise! I oft wondered what it would be like to live so close to the ocean – of hearing the serenity of that setting as the waves crash and the gulls cry. The saltiness of the air and the fact, your never in wont for conversation as there is a high volume of people constantly coming and going. All in, you can see what was so very tempting for me to be reading this novel!

PS: Isn’t the cover art delightful? You can almost see why Anna felt such a strong kinship with the doctor and he to her – he had a natural instinct for children even if part of him feared he might not yet be ready for fatherhood (per the extract I recently shared).

Stories in the Spotlight banner created by Jorie in Canva.

Hallo, Hallo dear hearts!

As you might have been expecting if you caught sight of this blog tour ahead of time – I was meant to read and share my thoughts on behalf of the novel – however, there was a mail glitch which made the novel’s arrival into my postbox slightly delayed! I can happily announce though – the novel has made its way to me and I’ll be reading it this week! Therefore, as I am only posting a spotlight to announce my intentions to read the story and giving you a chance to ‘meet’ the characters in this lovely extract which was provided to me by Prism Book Tours – I wanted to explain what had happened and why I had to change what I was doing for the blog tour itself.

I have been having such a delightful time getting acquainted with Harlequin & Mills and Boon authors lately – as you will see quite a few authors have been highlighted on my blog since late last year and into the first few months of [2018]. It is partially due to a re-focus on seeking out the stories – as it wasn’t too long ago when I was regularly reading Harlequin authors. I used to focus on the parenthood stories and the stories about single fathers – I even started collecting the “Babies & Bachelors USA” series as I found it wicked fascinating how it was showcased!

You can imagine then, why the premise behind this title stood out to me!! I also have a soft spot for second chance romances and the curious way in which children help romance to bloom if a single parent is taking a chance on finding true love. There are so many different ways to enter into a narrative like this one and I look forward to seeing the choices Ms Marshall made herself as I am thankful she was able to re-send the book. Until I start it, however, the extract I was given to showcase today is about children and the curious ways in which being a parent are both the highlight and the joy of being alive because children give us a chance to re-discover the world through their eyes and the innocent ways in which they find their curiosity inspiring them to better understand the world. Even if sometimes, they try our patience, their presence is a blessing in which we never fail to realise is part of what makes our experiences full of hope and love.

If your a regular reader of Harlequin Romances or their other imprints, I look forward to your comments – seeing what you love to read by Harlequin and of course, if you know of any mini-series or authors I might enjoy seeking out – kindly let me know! My local library has a hearty collection of their stories and I love finding new Harlequin authors to read!

Happily return on 2nd of March, to read my review!

Book Review | “His One and Only Bride” (The Business of Weddings series, Book Six) by Tara Randel A series by #HarlequinHeartwarming

Oft-times you’ll find Prism Book Tours alighting on my blog through the series of guest features and spotlights with notes I’ll be hosting on behalf of their authors.

I received a complimentary copy of “His One and Only Bride” direct from the author Tara Randel in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive compensation for my opinions or thoughts shared herein.

Why I was intrigued by this story-line:

I truly love wedding stories – when I caught sight of this title, I was instantly hooked – as I perused the synopsis this felt like the kind of story I needed right now. I was recovering from my virus (a three week affair, plus one week to recover my energy, focus and stamina!) when I first spied this blog tour – which is why unexpectedly I made a bit of a blunderment! This is a series in-progress! In fact, I originally thought this was the fifth book in the series but it turns out, it’s the *sixth!* and final story to anchour the ENTIRE Business of Weddings series together! Oy vie. As I mentioned in this tweet – sometimes a girl just needs to be #amreading!

Which was my way of overstating the obvious – I have missed being curled up inside stories these past four weeks with reckless abandon! I’ve only been able to dip my toes into a few novels, two suspenseful audiobooks and partially re-listened to a Cosy Mystery audiobook I’m finishing this week. I simply couldn’t focus on reading or dissecting what I was reading with any kind of regularity until after I recovered. Finding myself struck down by a migraine this past weekend (of the 20th) was not exactly the step ‘forward’ I was hoping to have this side of the virus! Mind you, I wasn’t even going to attempt to read too much Non-Fiction (despite my shelves leaning in this direction!) as those take a bit more attention as I like to read those titles whilst analysing them from a different perspective altogether! Expect more of those kinds of ruminations sprinkled throughout the coming month of February and well into Spring!

However, despite the lows of spending most of the first month of the New Year quite muddled in health woes – I did capture a happy spirit for a few lovely exchanges of convo and delightful discoveries on Twitter! I even hosted my first Romance + Women’s Fiction chat of the year: @SatBookChat which happily has started on good footing for bringing readers and writers together! (smiles) On the foot-heels of this good news, I am thankful I can start resuming my Romantic Reads – as I do love a wonderfully light Rom, a historically intriguing Romance, a mind-tingling Rom Suspense or a dramatic Women’s Fiction story to thread through my yearly reads!

It is true – I do have a keen preference for reading serial fiction in order of sequence, except for when I make a gaffe like this and recognise sometimes it’s okay to read them ‘out of order’! Laughs with mirth. Part of the reason I think I have trouble discerning which novel is in sequence is because these are not always exclusively marketed by their sequencing – meaning, oft-times I do try to source their origins and numerical sequencing but still find myself falling a bit short of knowing ‘which came first’ and ‘which should I read next’! I wonder if there is a repository for all Harlequin (and Mills & Boon) titles in a database which catalogues their serial fiction?

Ironically or not, I also notice a bit of a pattern here – for the Harlequin and Mills & Boon novels I’ve been reading of late, I’ve been reading them ALL out of sequence! *le sigh* Apparently I keep ‘leaping’ before I double-check which book is in which order of their individual series! The only happy bit, of course, is being able to re-find these lovelies through my local library, inter-library loan and used book shoppes – as not all of these are kept in print past their initial print runs! More adventure for the bookish girl who loves a ready challenge in gathering books in sequence! Ha!
