Hallo, Hallo dear hearts!

As you know, I have a propensity for reading INSPY Lit and settling into different styles of INSPY narratives from Contemporary to Historical as well as my favourite niche of joy with Mum which is Contemporary INSPY Suspense. Our favourite imprint for reading those lovelies is Love Inspired Suspense – however, some of those authors are now being published elsewhere, such as Ms Eason! We have several of her stories from Love Inspired Suspense on our #mustreads list and it is just a matter of time of getting into those stories! Similar to how we’ve followed Ms Goddard to Revell we are also following Ms Eason. This is why I was thankful to be on this blog tour featuring her Danger Never Sleeps series as she is the second author Mum and I have had the most interest in reading this year!

I had hoped to borrow “Collateral Damage” via audiobook via my regional library’s CloudLibrary, however, in the past six weeks I’ve had too many migraines and it has taken me away from focusing on my reading life. However, I am thankful I found the chapter samplers online instead where I could see small snippets of what the first two novels of this series are about and where they begin. On a recent blog tour with this touring company, I did have the chance to focus a bit on the opening chapters of “Set the Stars Alight” which happily surprised me as I was migraine-free for a short bit of time wherein I could find myself happily immersed within the story and the narrator’s performance. You can read my thoughts about that story and learn why I enjoyed discovering the narrator who was a new narrator popping up on my bookish radar.

Recently, I related my immense joy in listening to ‘Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish’ whilst ‘Magnolia Storms’ was one of my top favourites during a recent INSPY readathon this past August. You will find a healthy gathering of INSPY stories in my Story Vault as well!

Today, I had originally planned to bring you an interview between Ms Eason and myself, however, unbeknownst to me she was not available to respond in time for my tour stop. I decided to focus instead on spotlighting the series and help my readers know a bit more about the Danger Never Sleeps series as I explored the series myself through chapter samplers online. As you know, I can’t read full narratives in ebook formats, however with chapter samplers I can read short snippets and gather the gist about how a story will evolve through the rest of a novel. Likewise, I hope if this series itches your own curiosity – you’ll either seek out the series itself or dip into the samplers online as I have myself.

The last time I’ve found myself wrapped up in a Contemporary INSPY Thriller series was when I was reading Dee Henderson’s Full Disclosure by this same publisher. Although I was never fully sure if Full Disclosure, Unspoken and Undetected were actually a bonefide series. I have two left to read in that sequence of stories and I loved how she captured my heart after having read the O’Malley series when it first released. When it comes to Contemporary Military Suspense, I tend to lean towards the Love Inspired Suspense line of stories – I’ve been gathering different books in different series through Love Inspired in order to start reading them as they are happily read and available second hand in my region. It gives me a heart lift knowing I can read more of the authors through Love Inspired eventually as Mum and I personally love the niche of Suspense and Thrillers the line produces on a monthly and annual basis.

Yet, when it comes to being involved in a more current Contemporary Military Thriller – I’d have to think back on watching JAG during its original airtimes before I spent nearly all of my twenties and half of my thirties watching the spin-off sequel NCIS. You can’t get more guttingly realistic than those televised episodes if you tried! I long since abandoned watching NCIS – shortly after Ziva left the series and before D’Nozzo left himself. The team’s dynamics had changed and it was hard to feel as attached to the series despite the fact I enjoyed the introduction of Bishop. I also spent a few years appreciating NCIS: NOLA until it took a few too many twisted paths for me to enjoy any of it anymore as a result of placaing too many key characters (ie. lead) at risk for being removed due to being put into harm’s way a few too many times. I like it better when the core team survives and continues to sleuth for another day rather than constantly feeling like you’ve had your heart squeezed through a vice each episode you watch! (grr!)

Which brings me back to my interest in this series by Ms Eason!! I would love to start reading this series and seeing if it has the dynamics I’m seeking out of Contemporary Thrillers whilst also bringing the backbone and heart of the series through a military lens of appreciation. I enjoy reading military suspense but I find it hard to seek out an author who is writing the stories I can handle reading. This is why this series felt like it had a good premise and a chance to win over my readerly heart. I look forward to seeking out the series and updating my readers if it became a good fit for me as a reader.

As an aside: the only military drama series I’ve ever watched and will again is M*A*S*H due to its consistency and the dramatic way the series attaches itself into your heart. I cannot wait to get a boxed set of the series and re-live those episodes which were both heart-pulsing to experience and so dearly endearing of a cast who gave such realistic protrayals of their characters’ lives.

NOTE: Similar to blog tours wherein I feature book reviews, book spotlights (with or without extracts), book announcements (or Cover Reveals) – I may elect to feature an author, editor, narrator, publisher or other creative person connected to the book, audiobook, Indie film project or otherwise creative publishing medium being featured wherein the supplemental content on my blog is never compensated monetarily nor am I ever obligated to feature this kind of content. I provide (98.5%) of all questions and guest topics regularly featured on Jorie Loves A Story. I receive direct responses back to those enquiries by publicists, literary agents, authors, blog tour companies, etc of whom I am working with to bring these supplemental features and showcases to my blog. I am naturally curious about the ‘behind-the-scenes’ of stories and the writers who pen them: I have a heap of joy bringing this content to my readers. Whenever there is a conflict of connection I do disclose those connections per post and disclose the connection as it applies.
