Day 2 of the #BoutofBooks readathon, and Jorie is happily settling into a groove of reading & blogging!

I was attempting to reconcile that my initial joy of being able to read the self-published novel “Gilded Feathers” was over-ridden by the reality that the context of the book was simply not a story that I could wrap my mind & heart around. Therefore, it sort of stretched out my ability to blog my thoughts about it as much as to continue forward with my readings for the Bout! What I was most readily engaged in and quite delighted was the discovery of “Chain of Mercy”! The breadth of narrative being stitched into this début novel had me quite giddy — as it is the type of book that from the very first moment you pick it up, you know within the first pages that you’re sitting through a read that will betwixt your attention for anything else ahead of reaching its conclusion! I love finding authors who grab my eyes at hallo and do not let me go until I get to turn the last page and breathe in the ending,…

Notes:

In the background of the Bout, I have quite an intense schedule of book reviews, author interviews, and blog tour stops which is not only keeping me on my toes but is giving me a lot of joy to blog about this week! In the two author interviews I have been working on to post, I must say I am over the moon in joy for being in a position to interview two dynamically different writers! I love creating Questions for authors to respond too as it gives me a way to get to know them a bit better as well as taking a moment to carve out a question that they may or may not have been asked of previously! I love the background research that I put into author interviews which is a succession of reading & sourcing interviews posted online from fellow book bloggers to members of print media to publisher websites. I enjoy the happiness in reading about the path authors take towards publication as much as I appreciate the steady glimpses in how each of our writer’s lifepath has threads of connectivity inside it.

We might take a different route towards publishing our novels, but it is the quest to represent the stories which alight in our hearts and fever into reality through our imaginations that unites us as creative artists. I am always going to be forever blessed to play a small part in their path and journey as a writer, as I endeavour to ask questions and engage them in conversations which are enlightening for all who have the pleasure of reading the conversation afterwards!

Likewise, this week was especially keen as I was able to spotlight upcoming books for review during my Feature of Jorie’s Box of Joy! What an incredible array of titles I am receiving by Post recently! I am never one to remember which day nor week one particular book arrives, which is why I deviated a bit from the traditional “Mailbox Monday” offering and created my own unique spin on it! At the very same time, I’d love to say I’ve been able to make my rounds to the other lovely book bloggers who are taking part in the meme, but honestly, my hours fly out the window faster than a broom in Quidditch! One of these weeks, I am going to set aside the proper time to go back through the routes on the days in which I participated! Thankfully, this is only my third installment, so I am not so terribly behind!

The second day of the Bout is the one where you get to gain a comfortability in the experience and sink into your own personal rhythm of what is coming next,.. I cannot wait to share my observations of Chain of Mercy! As it is truly a book which alighted in my hands that I am itching to consume!

Which books are you currently cheering for right now!?

Which authors are you giddy about reading next!?

Are we reading any authors in common at the moment!?

About jorielov

I am self-educated through local libraries and alternative education opportunities. I am a writer by trade and I cured a ten-year writer’s block by the discovery of Nanowrimo in November 2008. The event changed my life by re-establishing my muse and solidifying my path. Five years later whilst exploring the bookish blogosphere I decided to become a book blogger. I am a champion of wordsmiths who evoke a visceral experience in narrative. I write comprehensive book showcases electing to get into the heart of my reading observations. I dance through genres seeking literary enlightenment and enchantment. Starting in Autumn 2013 I became a blog book tour hostess featuring books and authors. I joined The Classics Club in January 2014 to seek out appreciators of the timeless works of literature whose breadth of scope and voice resonate with us all.
