Banned Books Week Giveaway!

Posted Sunday, 22 September, 2013 by jorielov , 2 Comments

Hallo, dear hearts!

Each year, I have always wanted to participate in a Banned Book Week event, but once again, I am having to place my intentions on hold! I had unearthed a Banned Book celebration through Epic Reads, and the badge is still able to be seen on my *Rals & Challenges* page, in case your curious! My local library always makes Banned Book Week an excellent discussion time to converse about the freedom of reading + for choosing what we individually want to read, without censorship and without being told that we’re not allowed to read the books!

I wanted to re-blog this post from *Roof Beam Reader*, as I am a follower of his blog, as I found him shortly before *Austen in August*, and knew that I would want to keep tabs on the subjects and topics that he regularly posts about! This is my first ‘re-blogging’ post, and I am happy that it is to spread the word about such an event as this! I am thankful to the co-hosts of *Banned Books Week*: Bookhounds + I Am A Reader, Not A Writer, for joining the bookish blogosphere together for this awesome event that we can all rally behind and support!

The book I chose to win from his giveaway, is “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, as I have wanted to read this book since I first learnt of it, close to the time of publication. My interactions with the book were in Starbucks, whilst they did a promo event for the book, and I was most esteemed for the interactions and conversations that the event evoked by the readers who were gathered there!

There are *100!* bloggers taking part in this event! Be sure to click on the badge and make your rounds as I will be doing myself! :) :) Let’s rock the right to read!! Bookish girls and blokes: Unite! Read proudly! Gush about your latest finds! And, celebrate the liberty we enjoy by reading about our individualistic differences and our conjoined humanity!

I am linking this to the Book Chat’s linky for Thursday, 26th of September 2013, due to the fact, that although I support *Banned Book Week*, I am unable to participate this year in the universal reading of banned books! Therefore, I’d like to draw attention to events or features in the bookish blogosphere that are doing their part to celebrate our freedom of choice and our right to read!! Be sure to click over here to find other bookish bloggers who are linking their Banned Book Posts as well! Now then, if you came by my blog via this post, have you read “The Kite Runner”!? Did you watch the motion picture before OR after you read the book!? Which banned books are your favourites!? Which do you hope to read next!?

{SOURCES: Banned Book Week Badges were provided by Bookhounds + I Am A Reader, Not A Writer, for participants to show solidarity, and the badges came through on my blog when I re-blogged the entry. The Book Chat badge is provided for participants to show solidarity.}

Note: as of October 2014, the re-blogged content of this post are no longer visible which might have happened when I self-hosted in August 2014. However, it wasn’t brought to my attention until now due to searching through ‘broken links’ and attempting to fix the errors. I left this as a reminder of the event itself rather than to delete it completely.

About jorielov

I am self-educated through local libraries and alternative education opportunities. I am a writer by trade and I cured a ten-year writer’s block by the discovery of Nanowrimo in November 2008. The event changed my life by re-establishing my muse and solidifying my path. Five years later whilst exploring the bookish blogosphere I decided to become a book blogger. I am a champion of wordsmiths who evoke a visceral experience in narrative. I write comprehensive book showcases electing to get into the heart of my reading observations. I dance through genres seeking literary enlightenment and enchantment. Starting in Autumn 2013 I became a blog book tour hostess featuring books and authors. I joined The Classics Club in January 2014 to seek out appreciators of the timeless works of literature whose breadth of scope and voice resonate with us all.
