I love being able to draw an attentive eye to upcoming new stories being released by publishers I happily devour and support on a regular basis. I haven’t had the pleasure to start hosting for Brook Cottage Book Tours thus far, however, when I spied a ChocLit author was using them for publicity, my heart warmed. I had previously booked my first blog tour with them for a stirring Sci-Fantasy debut novel: The Last Gatekeeper which will be arriving this Friday! Ironically, or not, the context of the novel involves electricity and it was lightning which kicked me offline the past six days, therefore, delaying both my review and this wicked awesome Cover Reveal!
On my connection to the author:
I happily host ChocLit authors on my blog throughout the year, however, when I saw a Cover Reveal for Ms Browne coming through my e-letter list for Brook Cottage Book Tours, I knew I wanted to participate! I love finding authors I appreciate getting to know in the twitterverse and of whose books are on my TBR next lists are finding creative and innovative ways of reaching new readers! I had already made the choice to request The Rest of my Life direct from ChocLitUK when it publishes in print as an upcoming ‘next’ review as part of my feature #ChocLitSaturdays; the reviews and guest features running in conjunction to my weekly Rom chat #ChocLitSaturday!
I happily have had the pleasure of interacting with Ms Browne through #ChocLitSaturday the chat off/on for the past half year or thereabouts. She is a delightful presence to have in the chats and I am thankful she found a niche where she felt comfortable chattering with fellow ChocLit authors, Romance novelists, book bloggers, readers, and other bookishly chatty spirits who alight on Saturdays!
I am disclosing this, to assure you that I can formulate an honest opinion, even though I have interacted with her ahead of reading her novels. I treat each book as a ‘new experience’, whether I personally know the author OR whether I am reading a book by them for the first time. This is also true when I follow-up with them on future releases and celebrate the book birthdays that come after their initial publication.
The Rest of my Life Cover Reveal
by Sheryl Browne
“You can’t run away from commitment forever … “
Adam Hamilton-Shaw has more reason than most to avoid commitment. Living on a houseboat in the Severn Valley, his dream is to sail into the sunset – preferably with a woman waiting in every port. But lately, his life looks more like a road to destruction than an idyllic boat ride…
Would-be screenplay writer Sienna Meadows realises that everything about Adam spells trouble – but she can’t ignore the feeling that there is more to him than just his bad reputation. Nor can she ignore the intense physical attraction that exists between them.
And it just so happens that Adam sees Sienna as the kind of woman he could commit to. But can he change his damaging behaviour – or is the road to destruction a one-way street?

My parents and I have adopted animals from shelters and rescue organisations since I was a young child, and I learnt the benefit of giving an animal a second chance at a loving stable home. My beloved dog was turnt in due to a family’s relocation across the country, but he found a joy of happiness being in our family until old age took him away from us. He lived a good 11 years past his adoption around the age of one year whereas a cat whose trauma prior to being adopted into our home was nearly too much for her to re-balance into a regular lifestyle and house. Our dog took her as a charge of his and they created this bond of friendship that lasted until sadly he passed when she was still quite young in years. She never recovered fully from that loss, but she lived to be 16 years despite the hurdles she faced as a young mother of kittens under the age of one!
After she passed ironically during a swatch of severe [hurricanes] storms during 2004, we missed having a presence amongst us with soft paw prints and a cheeky scratchy kiss nudging us whilst we watched tv. We brought home three rescue cats: one from the streets themselves where a tabby held strong to the nape of his sister’s neck whilst a rescue worker tried to convince him of trusting he would be safe if he relented a bit. The other two were turnt in when their elderly companion was no longer able to take care of them; they were twins, although we hadn’t realised this at first. They act like twins all the time and they are the comical humour instigators! Lateron, nearly nine months passed before we brought home our second street rescued cat, this time with enough spunk and moxie to give the tabbys a bit of a run for their money! This little gem of a tux could flip an older cat (a year old to her two months) in the blink of an eye!
This history of mine (as I am only sharing a small fraction of it!) has held strong and given me a hearty nod of gratitude to those who foster the rescue animals who eventually are allowed to be adopted into loving homes by parents like mine who saw the beauty of who the animal was outside the set of circumstances that led to their fostering and/or shelter status. When I read recently on the blog of Ms Browne how she has taken in rescued dogs and fosters them into a stable home where their fears and their doubts on trusting humans does not limit their ability to find happiness and joy truly touched my heart!
You see, in the past I reviewed a lovely collection of devotionals about rescued cats (which had a companion interview) wherein I talk a bit more about my love of rescued animals. I also wrote a uniquely emotional post when I lost one of my tabbys when I first started blogging. I recommend visiting the devotional review and interview, because I found awe-inspiring videos on YT; one included a self-reliant blind cat!
I truly applauded this part of Ms Browne’s life and it gave such a surprise to me to find out a bit about her personal life I hadn’t known about previously. I look forward to getting to know her writing style when it comes time to read The Rest of my Life.
A JUNE #ChocLitSaturday chat discussed what drew everyone to ChocLitUK, and this is a short quote from that conversation! Read the full transcript on NURPH!

The Rest of my Life book trailer can be viewed on YouTube.
I did not embed it on my post as some of the images are a bit on the PG-13+ side of the scale than an PG or all-ages level of images. As I have readers who read across INSPY and mainstream as much as I do, inasmuch as those who appreciate YA, I elected to share the link for a visitor’s discretion to decide to watch the trailer or not. It’s nothing stronger than a bikini at a beach but it’s not a bikini in the book trailer; if you know what I’m hinting at?
What I appreciated the most about the trailer is that it sets the story up for a curious reader as it’s a story where redemptive qualities in a flawed approach to life and romance can be re-approached differently when you meet someone quite unexpectedly right for you. I like how the bloke in the story is very atypical of a classic choice for a woman seeking romance; who purposely would find a womanizing fool? It’s a turning of the tables for both of them; each of them has a burdened and/or difficult set of emotional baggage to shift through in order to make their relationship work – if there is a relationship to build upon and that provides the drama which lights the fuell of curiosity to read it!
I will be quite keen to see which direction Ms Browne leads us to go forth from here!

Similar to blog tours where I feature book reviews, as I choose to highlight an author via a Guest Post, Q&A, Interview, etc., I do not receive compensation for featuring supplemental content on my blog. I provide the questions for interviews and topics for the guest posts; wherein I receive the responses back from publicists and authors directly. I am naturally curious about the ‘behind-the-scenes’ of stories and the writers who pen them; I have a heap of joy bringing this content to my readers.
Reader Interactive Question:
Have you previously had the pleasure of reading a ChocLitUK Romance novel!? Did you now they regularly release novels with strong female leads and male characters who are a delight to find on the pages? ChocLit truly has found a niche for giving romance readers something hearty to chew on whilst seeking out uplifting relationship-based Rom with just a dash and a hint of intrigue, drama, and suspense!
What do you seek out from a romance novel?
The relationship-based drama, comedy, historical, or suspense? OR the strength of the setting, timescape, and dimensional eclipse of the characters therein!?
Be sure to catch my next Choc Lit review
which is upcoming this weekend: Starting Over by Sue Moorcroft!
My last ChocLit novel I devoured was a vampire rom: (my 1st!)

Ohhhh, what a beautiful post. Thank you so much, Jorie. I am super-pleased to feature on your lovely blog and proud to know a fellow homeless animal adopter. Love our chats on ChocLit Saturdays! Would you believe I’m actually quite shy? That’s why it’s so lovely to meet and easily chat to fellow-minded booklovers. Take care, sweetie. :) xx
Hallo, Hallo Ms Browne,
Would you believe when I first read you were shy I nearly had to do a double-take!? It didn’t seem possible, to be honest! I mean, you’re always very engaging and bubbly whenever I would interact with you on Twitter during our Saturday chats; I never would have suspected this to be the case! I definitely can say you provided me with a lot of happy hours those moments you could join us. If you could believe – since September, 2019 I’ve regenerated the chat (now called #SatBookChat) and its thriving!! I couldn’t be happier – because I’m still tackling getting back into my own writings. This year, I have a better plan in mind towards that end and there is one chat in particular we all shared together which sparked the reason why I’m focusing on telling this one particular story. The chat is a joy to host but sometimes I have noticed the chat gives me back some unexpected (and much needed!) joy as well!!
I was truly blessed to feature you for this showcase and the reviews which came along as well. I will always be adopting animals – they are truly the lights of joy spread throughout my life!! My tabby is turning 16 this year and my ‘little’ Tux is going to be 15! Imagine? They were only nine months and two months when we adopted them!! Time just flies!! Thankful our paths crossed and it has been a joy getting to know you through the years.
