Hallo, Hallo dear hearts! As you are aware of by my recent readings of The Clan Chronicles, I have a bit of a penchant for Science Fiction – a passion I love to celebrate during Sci Fi November (follow the tag #RRSciFiMonth to get more inspiration by those who rock this event per annum!) as well as during the ‘off-season’ of the event throughout the rest of the year as often as I can! Hence why I was quite thankful to find another blog tour being hosted by my dear friend Priya, of whom has brought me another stirringly intriguing series by Morning Rain Publishing to focus for your attention!
Previously, a short while ago, I hosted the Shadows Shifts blog tour, wherein I met J.M. Bogart! Her lovely novels have since arrived and I am most eager to soak inside them once time lets me – as it’s been a unique Summer of storms & tech woes, to such an extent, I’m a bit behind on my readings all round. What I appreciate about this new #CanLit publisher I am being introduced too, is similar to Rebelight Publishing, they are focusing on wicked good stories for Middle Grade and Young Adult readers,… my previous showcase was for one of their #MGLit series and today, I have the joy of highlighting one of their #YALit series!
As you might have noticed, I love ferreting out exciting #newtomeauthors who are writing stories for children that I can personally say are healthy contributions to Children’s Lit. I have a newfound interest in Children’s Lit, which I talk about quite often on my blog, and most recently on the interview attached to another YA blog tour, The Cursed Dagger‘s. What took my interest in this series – is the undercurrent vibe of Quantum Physics (if you’ve read through my Clan Chronicles reviews, you know I *love!* QP!) intermixed with an adventure, with keen characters who are relatable to young adults – at least this is what I have been gathering by reading about the books! One day I’ll have to fetch them to find out what is inside properly!
Which brings me to today’s guest post! I asked the author to flesh out the following about her series: Why did Leonardo di Vinci’s worm hole idea inspire some of the science in the series? How did you augment the science fact with the science fiction parts of your story to thread through the series? The result of her response is below and I hope after you’ve read what she’s shared that it’s left you even more intrigued to pick up the series to read!
Grab a cuppa and enjoy your visit!
The dramatic conclusion to Alice of the Rocks!
Their love transcends time, space, and conflict.
Alice Ferro did not travel 500 years into the past to save her soulmate from persecution only to discover her journey had been in vain! Forced to return from 1512 Italy to 2029 Canada without him, she cannot focus on family, school, or friends as thoughts of Claudio constantly flood her mind. When she discovers her love’s future is dire, Alice decides she must return to the past to save him once and for all. With some help, a bit of deceit, and a lot of determination, Alice sets off to rescue Claudio. Unfortunately, she hadn’t planned on things going so terribly wrong, and she soon finds her own life in peril.
Written with charm and intelligence, the sequel to Alice of the Rocks encompasses everything you could want in a young adult, time travel romance. Adventure, true love, intrigue, and dynamic characters fill the pages alongside the elegant landscape of Renaissance Italy.
Hello to my good friend Jorie and all her followers.
Many thanks for hosting me on this blog tour celebrating the launch of my newest title, the sequel to Alice of the Rocks… Alice-Angel of Time in which the conclusion of Alice and Claudio’s journey will be available for all to read!
The theme of the tour is A Virtual Tuscany Tour with Ali and Claudio…
I thought that since I recently traveled to Italy, that I would share some pics that relate directly back to my novel, Alice-Angel of Time. I hope they inspire you to pick up a copy!
You know, it still makes me shiver at how many readers have told me that they felt like they were in the story with our power couple, Ali and Claudio, living every twist and turn in the plot. But it’s not only about historical fiction – there is a whole lot of science fiction happening – starting with Leonarodo da Vinci’s inadvertent creation of a mini worm hole in a Florentine monastery in Alice of the Rocks! Both books are deeply rooted in science fiction and since I know Jorie is a sci-fi enthusiast, just like me, I thought I would indulge her.
The first pic I am sharing is of the Certosa Monastery,
where Leonardo hides his time Chamber – who would guess there that is a time portal to an era five hundred years in the future at 16th century monastery! We all know da Vinci was a true ‘Renaissance’ man, artist, innovator and inventor, but in my novels, he creates a Chamber to another world – the near futuristic world of 2029 – Alice Ferro’s world.
The next pic is what I picture the time portal would have looked like just as the lightning struck the first time
(in the novel, da Vinci was actually trying to harness the power of a lightning bolt, a thing that we have not been able to do to this day) – melding images of different eras, points in time fading away and then appearing again. This was the ‘Chamber’ Claudio saw first – the one he called ‘dark magic’, until he became a more enlightened time traveller, that is.
Now this may all sound like it would be impossible – how could one passage through time in a miniature wormhole to another time? Well, it’s not really that farfetched. Scientists already know that black holes exist, but worm holes? Okay, I concede, worm holes are still a theory, but scientists have been kicking the idea around for a long time.
From a physics standpoint, a number of roads could lead to the creation of wormholes. One of the most explored is Albert Einstein’s general theory of relativity. Scientists have theorized how a wormhole might work. The “entrance” would be a black hole. Where matter “exits” from the wormhole would be, naturally, a white hole. The first half of that construction definitely exists: Black holes — hyperdense objects thought to be at the center of many galaxies, some of which are known to have formed during the collapse of giant stars — exert so much gravity that not even light can escape their clutches. From this, I created the idea of the ‘Chamber’ or the place where our hero and heroine jump from 1512 Renaissance Florence, to 2029 Florence. Why 2029? I used 2029 Florence, because there had to be a couple decades allowed for advancement in the gadgets in our day, too.
How does the worm hole theory work? The solutions describe a “tube” through which space-time is fluid and potentially connects two regions vast distances apart or millennia apart. Think of two dots on a sheet of paper that is then folded so the dots overlap. That overlap is your wormhole, and it could theoretically allow for the transfer of matter from dot A to dot B instantaneously, instead of traveling the normal, long way across the sheet. Alice’s father uses another analogy in Alice-Angel of Time, but essentially, Reno Ferro says that time and space can bend, and that is the science fact behind the fiction in my novels.
Hey! a hundred years ago, a cell phone would have been looked at as otherworldly – but now, we cannot live our lives without our ‘cell’ in our hands from dawn until dusk – and beyond. Who is to say that time travel through an artificial worm hole can never happen? In the 1960’s, the communicators, talking computers and tricorders on Star Trek were sci-fi, now they are real household items we use all the time.
That’s, I think, the best thing about science fiction – one can take the ‘what if’s’ of today and turn them into the done deals of the future. And Alice and Claudio, of Alice-Angel of Time and Alice of the Rocks, are the best vehicle to deliver this fiction – using the very real concept of love, that transcends time and space.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures – thanks to Jorie for having me as her guest.
I also want to send out a huge thank you to Priya Prithviraj, of Writerly Yours for putting all this together. This blog tour would not have happened if it were not for Priya and Jennifer Jaquith, my managing editor at Morning Rain Publishing. Go to the Writerly Yours website for a full schedule of the entire tour – there are lots of interviews, reviews and other great stuff coming up!
Born in 1495 and raised in 2012, Alice Ferro’s life has been anything but normal. The only problem is, she doesn’t know it. As a 17-year-old in 2029, she has an ideal life, complete with loving parents, the latest technical gadgets, and a summer vacation in Italy. Upon arriving in Florence, sensations of surreal memories begin to surface, leaving her puzzled and confused.Knowing that reconnecting with his lost love could be dangerous for both of them, but willing to take the risk, Claudio Moro seeks out Alice in her new world. His very existence in 1512 is at stake! Having been accused of both treason and murder, he needs Alice to help clear his name and redeem his family’s honour. The question is, will Alice remember their love and care enough to leave her perfect future to redirect his doomed past?

Similar to blog tours where I feature book reviews, as I choose to highlight an author via a Guest Post, Q&A, Interview, etc., I do not receive compensation for featuring supplemental content on my blog. I provide the questions for interviews and topics for the guest posts; wherein I receive the responses back from publicists and authors directly. I am naturally curious about the ‘behind-the-scenes’ of stories and the writers who pen them; I have a heap of joy bringing this content to my readers.
